2016: EU REFERENDUM

Vote Art 2016 commissioned four artists to create new work in response to the call for an EU referendum.  The project also held an open competition to identify a fifth artist to create a new work.

All selected artworks were exhibited on site across the UK

The project also included a series of events at Goldsmiths University

ARTISTS

Mark Titchner

Titchner graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, in 1995 and nominated for the Turner Prize in 2006.

 

His work is held in the permanent collections of the South London Gallery, the United
Kingdom Government Art Collection and the Tate Gallery.

Mustafa Hulusi
 
Hulusi graduated from Fine Art and Critical Studies at Goldsmiths College, and has a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art.
In 2007, Hulusi represented Cyprus at the 52nd International Exhibition of Contemporary Art of La Biennale di Venezia.

Matt Do

Mat Do, 1982, born in Essex, UK – currently lives and works in Rotterdam where he is enrolled on the Fine Art MA programme at the Piet Zwart Institute.

 

Recent exhibitions and projects include: Here, Glasgow International, Cutting leaves for Dogs, Tale of a Tub Rotterdam, Sender Sumpf, Künstlerhäuser Worpswede (DE) and Medusa, DKUK/Ancient & Modern London.

 

Since 2003 he has worked with institutions and organisations including: Grizedale Arts, Cumbria (UK), Tate Britain and Whitechapel Gallery. His work is featured in public and private collections including the New Art Gallery Walsall and Channel 4.

Emily Rose Vanags

Emily Rose Vanags is the winner of national Vote Art competition 2016.

 

She is currently pursuing a MA in Art Museum and Gallery Studies at Newcastle University and will be graduating this summer and  hopes to become a gallery or art museum curator. 

As a US citizen, Emily is ineligible to vote in the referendum, but believes opportunities to participate  in governmental decisions are few and far between.

 

This is a great opportunity to have a real impact on what the future holds. 

Kathrin Böhm

Kathrin Böhm is a London-based artist with a long-standing interest in the collaborative making and expanding of public spaces through collective production, 1:1 action and trade.

Kathrin is a founding member of the international artist group Myvillages and the London-based art and architecture collective Public Works. 

Current and recent projects include Trade Show (co-curated with Gavin Wade) for Eastside Projects in Birmingham, Myvillages' two year long International Village Show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig, Brand News in collaboration with An Endless Supply for Radar, Loughborough and Böhm is the leading artist on the Company: Movements, Deals and Drinks project in east London which received the 2014 Create Art Award.
