Canvassing for votes: Artists urge action in election

VOTE! The message is clear – and important. As Britons prepare to exercise their democratic right at the general election on 7 May 2015, a group of artists want to inspire people - particularly those aged between 18 and 23 - to take part in the democratic process.

The campaign, entitled Vote Art, is fronted by artists Bob & Roberta Smith, Fatima Begum, Janette Parris and Jeremy Deller, each of whom have created new artworks on the VOTE theme.

And the work of one aspiring artist will join them, when all the pieces will be exhibited on 10 commercial billboard sites across England, on 10,000 postcards and across social media.

There is still time to enter the competition for the fifth work, by entering here – by 6pm on Friday 20 March. If you haven’t registered to vote, you can also do so here.

On this page are the works created by the resident artists plus the very first entry to the competition by Mez Kerr Jones, who is from South Wales but lives in London.

The winner will be announced at the end of the month, so there there is still time to enter – and to register to vote.
